Vertical Raise Boring

With over 37 years in the field, we have the world’s largest raise boring fleet, consisting of more than 150 rigs. Our equipment is designed for hard rock drilling, reaching depths over 2km.

Application

  • Construct shafts for air circulation, moving ore, storing rock in silos and lifting materials to the surface.
  • Tunnels facilitate the routing of wastewater for underground disposal and serve as access points to rail system shafts.
  • Construct pressure shafts for hydroelectric or pumped storage plants and provide access to nuclear storage facilities.
  • Efficiently constructs small diameter passes for transferring ore and waste between different levels of a mine.
A white rocket stands vertically on a launch pad outside a launch facility, with mountains in the background. Nearby are tents, a wheeled building, and various equipment under a clear, blue sky. Steps lead to the base of the rocket, indicating preparation for launch.

Benefits

  • Eliminates the need for explosives, offering a cost-effective solution in specific applications and scales compared to traditional methods.
  • Efficiently and rapidly complete rock excavation.
  • Achieves a robust, stable circular excavation without causing any damage to the sides of the hole or shaft.
  • Produces minimal dust.
  • Efficiently constructs small diameter passes for transferring ore and waste between different levels of a mine.
Three miners in safety gear work underground in a dimly lit tunnel. One miner stands and operates machinery illuminated by blue lights, while two others observe. The rocky tunnel walls encompass the scene, adding to the sense of depth and enclosed space.
