Grade Control Drilling
What is Grade Control Drilling?
Reverse Circulation is the most commonly employed drilling method for grade control in open pit mining operations. This type of drilling is utilized to better define the information already available on the ore grades and ore blocks on the mine in order to optimize ore extraction as well as mine planning and blasting patterns.
Benefits:
- Increased production speeds as grade of specific sections in the mine are quickly ascertained and mining is not delayed by constant grade checking.
- Ensures that grade feed to mill is better controlled and confirms information within the resource block model.
- Allows ore feed to mill to be constant as blending of different ore grades can be better controlled by info obtained from grade control drilling.
- Grade control holes can also be utilized as blastholes for a particular bench that is drilled
Applications:
Grade control drilling’s main purpose is to better define the ore grades within the mine and refine the information obtained and inferred from the resource block model of the mine.

Roc Manager
Roc manager software allow rock mass modelling from information gathered from surface manager. Ex. Penetration rates can be correlated to hardness in order to estimate waste to ore ratios in blastholes.

Certiq hardware mounted on the D65 transmits data gathered from the Rocma and Surface manager and allows user to view data in real-time on Certiq portal.
